Philos Mechanical and Twin City Windustrial Bring a Three-Story Fitness Facility to Life Using Gruvlok

Facing a very demanding build schedule and budget, contractor Philos Mechanical, LLC. and distributor Twin City Windustrial needed a dependable brand of pipe fitting solutions to complete a boiler and chiller room build-out in a new three-story Life Time Fitness facility in Edina, MN. That’s where ASC’s time-saving Gruvlok® technology came in.

Using ASC Tools™, a Revit plugin for BIM software, Philos Mechanical was able to fully render 3-D models of the entire project prior to installation to ensure the correct Anvil® and Gruvlok fittings were used. The software shows all products in the modeling within the surrounding environment, making the material takeoffs very accurate. With the use of this technology, installation was easy and materials were ordered and delivered with accuracy and in a timely manner.

Gruvlok products were new to Philos Mechanical and ASC took the time to facilitate multiple trainings to ensure the success of this project. In the end, Philos Mechanical was very impressed with the Gruvlok SlideLOK (SLT) coupling which proved to be a time and money saver.

With use of ASC Tools Revit plug-in and the ease of both install, and collaboration between all three partners, the project was a complete success. The Life Time Fitness facility project was completed on time and on budget. This gorgeous three-story resort-like athletic center, which includes everything from pools to basketball courts, opened in late 2019.
