ASC Engineered Solutions’ Gruvlok® Series 8700 Butterfly Valve is a High-Pressure, Low-Torque Innovation for Mechanical Applications

Oak Brook, IL, June 26, 2025 – ASC Engineered Solutions is introducing a new grooved-end, off-set disc design butterfly valve – Series 8700 – under its lead mechanical product brand Gruvlok®. The patent-pending Gruvlok Series 8700 is designed for use in commercial grooved-end piping systems 2" through 8".

Its ergonomic design increases efficiency by as much as 39% and enables easy open and close operations with minimal effort. It is available in two design options: with a 10-position lever lock or with a gear operator.

Designed and manufactured to meet or exceed the requirements of MSS SP-67, the Gruvlok valve’s bi-directional offset disc design allows for low operating torque while providing a bubble tight seal from full vacuum to 400psi when the valve is closed, supporting a higher pressure performance than comparable peer products with a bubble-tight seal.

The valve body is a two-piece bolted design that can be installed quickly and is fully field serviceable with convenient in-situ access to all maintenance parts. Its space-saving design allows installation in tight or hard-to-reach spaces and provides for as much as a 2” clearance allowance for pipe insulation.

The body has an integral mounting base compliant with ISO 5211 for gear operator handle actuation. The valve’s body, end cap and disc are made of ductile iron conforming to ASTM A 536 Grade 65-45-12.

Available with either EDPM or Nitrile seat ring seals, the Series 8700 valve supports a wide range of media: Grade EP (EDPM) is recommended for use in water service, dilute acids, alkalies, oil-free air and many chemical services, while the Grade T (Nitrile) is recommended for petroleum products, air with oil vapors, vegetable and mineral oils. The EPDM seal provides a maximum temperature rating of 250° – nearly 10% higher than other industry options.
